Song: The Wings of Icarus by Celldweller
About the piece:
Fight or flight. This piece explores the paradoxical feelings of both the fear and freedom of flying. The movement explores the opposing instincts to hold on and let go and the contrast of seeking safety in stillness while also surrendering to the flow of movement.
Love Story
Song: Love Story by Indila
Choreographed by: Sophia Bikova
Performers: Luciana Barretto, Jordana Gomez, Christine Hall, Helene Hololei, Della McGuinness, Niamh Murphy, Emily O'Callaghan, Jennifer O'rourke, Katrina Puncule, Remy Theys
Yanesca Millans
Song: Fantasy by Alina Baraz
About the piece:
Sometimes as females, we find ourselves giving away our power to meet societal standards just to find out they cannot be met.
But soon enough you realise when you claim your power back nothing else can determine you.
In my piece, I explore the beauty of simplicity, the art of authenticity on a trip to connect with the empowerment of the self, the elegance and the mystery of the feminine energy in its most pure authentic form.
Joshua (Josh) Angelo Estrella
Song: Creep by Radiohead (Kina Cranis version)
About the piece:
Queerdo. This performance is dedicated to all the queers, faeries, unicorns, weirdos, and anyone who feels they don’t belong. You are not alone. Life has been challenging over the past few years, more so for people of underrepresented communities. There are moments when we just want to give up but this piece shows that there is hope and this too shall pass. You have the power to own and reclaim your truth. Please reach out and seek help if you feel alone. Please check in regularly on your friends and family. Be kind, you don’t know what others are going through. Sending love and support to those who most need it.
Blaithin Lally + Lisa Carley
Song: Bad Guy by EKLIPSE
About the piece:
In this piece we explore the flirtatious and fun side of female friendship. We aimed to choreograph a doubles act that would allow us to work together, while also incorporating our individual style of movement. Most of all, we wanted to create an act that would allow us to do what we love doing best: spinning in the air and posing in fancy dress!
We especially thank aerial performer and mentor, Jill Srigley, for her guidance and support throughout the creation of this piece.
Crow
Song: Crow by Forest Swords
Choreographed by: Ria Murphy
Performers: Jessica Leong, Adela Marchis, Kevin O’Riordan, Maly Palotto
Aoife Brennan
Song: I Put A Spell On You by Screamin’ Jay Hawkins
About the piece:
This is my first time performing on rope instead of silks so I wanted to embrace the clean sharp movements that rope allows and and combine it with some fun, staccato brass. I was hoping to create something exciting and upbeat with a traditional circus feel. I love Screamin' Jay Hawkins' crazed vaudevillian style - his ferocious howls complement the wild, powerful, and sometimes jarring way we can move through the air on rope.
Nikoletta Papadogianni
Song: Marrakesh Night Market by Loreena McKennitt
About the piece:
”As much is concealed, as is revealed..." In a cacophony of surrounding sounds, in this endless fight, the decision is on us, if we will be wearing a mask, showing our reflection, or being our true selves to each other. Seems magical...yet not well understood..but always true.
Courage to Change
Song: Courage to Change by Sia
Choreographed by: Jill Srigley
Performers: Chiara Esposito, Ivana Hayes, Marykate Jasper, Lucie Lefebvre, Cliona Liathain, Sharon Lynch, Michelle Murphy, Azahara Valenzuela Luque, Claudia Venegas
